Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTMining group Zimplats Holdings Ltd (ASX:ZIM) is looking into the possibility of building a 160-MW solar power plant in Zimbabwe, local daily newspaper The Herald reported on Monday.
The company anticipates its technical partners to conclude a feasibility study for the project by the end of July 2019, it told the newspaper. The total cost, funding strategy and completion timeline will be determined during that process.
Zimplats is engaged in mining, processing and producing platinum group metals (PGM) in Zimbabwe. The idea behind building a solar park is to ensure affordable, uninterrupted power supply to the company’s operations, it has said.
South Africa’s Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd (JSE:IMP) is the majority owner of Zimplats.
