MIS to fabricate USD 22.5m legs for wind-turbine installation ship

(ADPnews) - Mar 30, 2011 - Oslo-listed contractor Maritime Industrial Services (OSL:MIS) said yesteday it has won a contract, worth USD 22.5 million (EUR 16m), to fabricate legs for a wind-turbine installation vessel, from Polish shipbuilder CRIST SA.

The four Friede & Goldman (F&G) legs are for the heavy-lift jack-up crane vessel, Rig NB 142. The end-user of the ship is Beluga Hochtief Offshore, a joint venture of two German companies. The ship is due for delivery in the second quarter of 2012.

The legs, with a length of 447 ft (136.2 metres) will be fabricated at MIS' yard in Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Via the deal, MIS has set foot on the wind-installation vessel market, managing director Kevin Hudson said.
