The government of Moldova has fired the starting gun on its first tender for solar and wind power capacity, seeking to award up to 165 MW of projects.

The competitive round was launched by the Ministry of Energy on Friday and will be open for submissions by March 31, 2025. The opening of the bids is scheduled for April 1, 2025.

The solicitation will target up to 60 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) proposals and projects for up to 105 MW of wind farms. The individual capacity of the solar schemes should be above 1 MW and up to 60 MW, while for wind turbine proposals it should range between 4 MW and 105 MW.

Winners in the tender will be awarded fixed-price contracts for the future plants’ output for 15 years. The price will be determined through the competition and is capped at MDL 1.5 (USD 0.086/EUR 0.077) per kWh for wind and at MDL 1.67/kWh for solar.

Moldova’s national goal is to achieve a 30% share of renewable power in its final electric energy consumption by 2030.
