Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTThe Malaysian unit of Mondelez International (NASDAQ:MDLZ), owner of snack brands such as Oreo, Milka and Cadbury, has contracted carbon neutrality solutions provider NEFIN Group to install solar panels on the rooftops of its two local manufacturing plants.
As part of the new partnership, 1,266 solar panels will be deployed on top of the chocolate plant in Shah Alam, Selangor, that makes Cadbury Dairy Milk, and a further 1,754 will be installed on the roof of the biscuits and salty snacks plant in Prai, Pulau Pinang, that produces Twisties, Jacob's and Chipsmore.

Together, the two solar arrays will generate 1.8 million kWh of energy in the first year alone and are expected to help Mondelez save up to MYR 11.18 million (USD 2.65m/EUR 2.42m) over the next 25 years.
Chong Bor Hung, NEFIN Group's Head of Business Development and Managing Director for Malaysia, commented that the two companies already have successful cooperation of this type in Thailand and are discussing other similar projects in Southeast Asia.
