Morale in German renewable energy sector remains low in Oct 2013

Nov 12, 2013 - Sentiment in the German renewable energy sector deteriorated slightly in October, remaining at a low level, renewable energy institute IWR said on Monday.

The business climate Index for the industry decreased to 97.8 points from 98.2 points in September, German renewable energy institute IWR said on Monday.

The Index, compiled by IWR on a monthly basis, measures the sentiment among companies in the renewable energy industry and their expectations for the next six months on the scale of 80 points to 120 points.

According to IWR, the German industry does not welcome a possible "grand" coalition comprising Angela Merkel's conservatives and the centre-left Social Democrats (SPD) for the next legislative period.

Some 40% of the sector companies call for a fundamental reform to the renewable energy act (EEG), another 40% demand small changes and the minority spoke in favour of abolishing the EEG as an instrument for promoting renewable energy, a poll among the companies showed.
