Masen, the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy, on Monday announced the companies and consortiums that have been pre-qualified for the development of the 400-MW Noor Midelt II solar project with battery storage.

The list of companies that passed the pre-qualification process includes a consortium of Spain's COBRA Servicios, Communicaciones y Energia and COBRA Instalaciones y Servicios; a consortium of EDF Renouvelables and UAE-based Masdar; a consortium of Enel Green Power and TAQA Morocco, a consortium of Iberdrola Renovables International, Dongfang Electric International Corporation and GAIA Project; a consortium of International Power SA and NAREVA Holding; ACWA Power.

The winner in the competition will be in charge of the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the second power plant of the Noor Midelt complex. The solar power plant will be combined with a battery capable of offering two hours of storage.
