The 150-MW Noor III concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in Morocco is expected to be offline until November 2024 following a leakage in the hot molten salt tank, majority owner ACWA Power Co (TADAWUL:2082) said this week.

ACWA Power was notified of the leakage on March 21, the Riyadh-based company said in a stock market announcement. According to a preliminary analysis of the situation, a forced outage is expected until November as the company has to repair the tank or potentially build a new tank.

ACWA Power, which holds 75% of the project, said that the initial estimated revenue loss for the project company is around USD 47 million (EUR 43.29m).

Noor III, part of the Ouarzazate Solar Complex, reached commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2018. The plant was built at a cost of USD 862 million, according to ACWA Power's website.
