Industrial battery technology company Morrow Batteries has been selected as one of the preferred suppliers of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery cells in Ukraine to support the country’s push to build a distributed battery energy storage (BESS) network.

Morrow and the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE) will be signing today a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for potential deliveries that may reach GWh levels, although the exact volumes are yet to be agreed upon, the company said in a press statement on Tuesday.

The parties have committed to collaborating on executing a definitive agreement as soon as possible, following autonomous negotiations. The partnership may involve external financial donors, scientific research institutions and organisations, government and other funds.

The potential deliveries will be made from Morrow’s newly-launched factory in Norway which will have an annual production capacity of 1 GWh.

“We share a great sense of urgency and will do our part in being ready to sign a firm offtake agreement with relevant authorities in Ukraine and are ready to start deliveries of battery cells from the first quarter of 2025”, Morrow’s CEO Lars Christian Bacher noted.
