Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTJul 24, 2013 - Portuguese construction group Mota-Engil (ELI:EGL) delivered on Monday a photovoltaic (PV) plant for EUR 1 million (USD 1.3m) in Cape Verde, according to information of Portugal's news agency Lusa from yesterday.
The company installed 19 solar panels with a production capacity of 9,500 watts each in the Fogo island of the archipelago. The plant, which covers an area of more than 6,000 sq m (64,580 sq ft), will generate a total 180 kW of power.
The output will be used in the regional agriculture sector. Two new dams were inaugurated in Cape Verde in the past three weeks. The infrastructure projects in the water supply and energy sectors show the government's efforts for modernisation and development of the agriculture activities, prime-minister Jose Maria Neves stressed.
