Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CEST(ADPnews) - Jun 1, 2011 - Portuguese builder Mota-Engil (ELI:EGL) will take part in a public tender for hydropower licences in Angola.
The company intends to participate in the mini hydropower plants concession in partnership with Angolan group Vista linked to local bank Banco Privado Atlantico, the CEO of Mota-Engil, Jorge Coelho, told Portuguese economic daily Diario Economico as reported today.
However, Mota-Engil is also interested in developing large dams with the respective power generation units in Angola, the official added. In that case, the Portuguese investor will focus only on the construction works, Coelho stressed.
Angola is preparing large initiatives in the hydropower energy segment in line with its public investment programme for the coming six years.
Mota-Engil, in turn, included the power sector in the list of its investment priorities for foreign expansion. The company is trying to diversify its activity using as regional platforms the markets where it is already present. The builder makes efforts to avoid the recession environment affecting the operations in Portugal.
