German asset and investment manager MPC Capital AG has launched a subsidiary in Panama with the goal of expanding its renewable energy activities throughout the Caribbean Basin region.

The new firm, MPC Renewables Panama SA, is based in Panama City and is led by Fernando Zuniga, who took the role of regional director for Central America and the Caribbean. Zuniga was most recently Development Manager Latam at Solarcentury in Panama.

MPC Renewables Panama will work with the global renewables team of MPC Capital to structure, develop and manage renewable energy investment opportunities for institutional investors.

The German company mentioned the 172-MW Ancora wind project in Portugal, the 50-MWp Paradise Park PV plant in Jamaica and the 54-MW Sainshand wind park in Mongolia as recent transactions.
