Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTGerman energy company MVV Energie AG (ETR:MVV1) said on Thursday that its trading arm has reached a deal to supply national railway operator Deutsche Bahn AG with around 160 GWh of solar power.
MVV Trading has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Deutsche Bahn’s energy subsidiary DB Energie GmbH. The electricity to be delivered will be generated from three recently commissioned photovoltaic parks of MVV’s project developer Juwi. The parks are located in Bremelau and Heudorf in Baden-Wuerrtemberg as well as Roeckingen in Bavaria and have a total capacity of 36.5 MWp.

As agreed, MVV Trading will deliver about 40 GWh of solar power annually over a period of four years, starting from January 1, 2024.
In August, Deutsche Bahn secured the delivery of about 175 million kWh of wind power from German wind farm operator Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum GmbH & Co KG (TWB). The railway company will also source 20 MW of power from the He Dreiht wind farm project that is planned for construction in the North Sea off the German coast.
As part of its strategy, Deutsche Bahn aims to become climate-neutral by 2040 and plans to use exclusively renewable energy from 2038, according to a statement in August.
