Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTMyanmar on Thursday held the opening ceremony for its first commercial-scale solar power plant, with a capacity of 40 MW.
The Minbu solar park represents the first phase of a 170-MW project. Work on the first 40-MW portion of that scheme was initiated in February 2018 by Green Earth Power (Myanmar) Co Ltd and will be followed by the construction of two other 40-MW photovoltaic (PV) plants. The final stage of the project will have a capacity of 50 MW.
Upon completion, the 170-MW solar power complex will be able to generate about 350 million kWh of electricity per year, enough to meet the consumption of some 210,000 homes.
The government of Myanmar has pledged to connect to the power grid about 55% of the country in 2021 and 75% in 2025-2026. The 100% goal is set for 2030.
