North Macedonia has invited offers for participation in a public-private partnership with state-owned electricity company ESM for a 100 MW solar park project worth an estimated 80 million euro ($87.2 million), the government said on Wednesday.

The agreement will have a 35-year term, during which the private investor will pay to the ESM an annual fee equal to 10% of the revenue from the sale of the solar park's electricity output at market prices, the government said in a statement.

The deadline for submitting offers is May 8.

The project envisages the construction of two solar parks of 50 MW each in Oslomej, in the country's western part, with all funds for their construction to be provided by the private partner. ESM will participate in the project with the property on which the solar parks will be built as well as other relevant services and expertise.

After the 35-year term, the ownership of the solar parks will be transferred to ESM.

The private partner will also be obliged to hire at least 100 people currently employed at local thermal power plant operator and coal mining company REK Oslomej, as the new solar energy facilities will be built at the site of a disused coal mine of the company.
