Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTSKOPJE (North Macedonia), July 26 (SeeNews) – North Macedonia's gross electricity production decreased by an annual 16.4% to 278,668 MWh in May, the statistical office said on Monday, citing preliminary data.
Net electricity output fell by 15.7% year-on-year in May - to 264,145 MWh, Makstat said in a statement.
Hydro power plants contributed the largest portion of the gross domestic electricity production in May, generating 125,020 MWh, down 0.3% compared to the same month in 2020.
Thermal power plants followed with 113,756 MWh of electricity output, down 39.9% year-on-year.
Wind parks' output decreased by 25.5% year-on-year to 8,353 MWh in the month under review, while biogas plants generated 4,613 MWh of electricity, down 7% on the year.
Solar parks produced 2,534 MWh, up 3.3% on the year.
Electricity generated by cogeneration plants and auto-production thermal power stations totalled 24,393 MWh in May 2021. No figures for the same month in 2020 were provided.
North Macedonia’s electricity imports increased by an annual 35.7% to 260,029 MWh in May. Electricity exports came in at 14,062 MWh in May, as no comparison figures were provided.
Distribution losses increased by 2.6% on the year to 45,773 MWh in May.
