Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTNorth Macedonia's gross electricity production increased by an annual 4.5% to 520,327 MWh in August, the statistical office said on Monday, citing preliminary data.
Net electricity output rose by 2.8% year-on-year in August - to 492,064 MWh, Makstat said in a statement.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of the gross domestic electricity production in August, generating 216,082 MWh, up 58.3% compared to the same month in 2020.
Electricity generated by cogeneration plants and auto-production thermal power stations totalled 161,604 MWh in August 2021, down 0.7% on an annual comparison basis.
Hydro power plants generated 128,948 MWh of electricity, down 29.1% year-on-year.
Wind parks' output decreased by 26.9% year-on-year to 6,838 MWh in the month under review, while biogas plants generated 4,229 MWh of electricity, 13.6% lower compared with the same month in 2020.
Solar parks produced 2,626 MWh, up 2.4% on the year.
North Macedonia’s electricity imports decreased by an annual 19.3% to 107,652 MWh in August. Electricity exports came in at 41,288 MWh in August, down 60.8% on the year.
Distribution losses increased by 11.2% on the year to 51,221 MWh in August.
