Spanish utility Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY) has opened an office in Italy where it currently develops a couple of agrivoltaic solar projects with a combined capacity of roughly 200 MW.

More specifically, Naturgy is working on two advanced-stage projects in the regions of Apulia and Lazio to which 35 MW of battery storage is planned to be added. These solar parks are expected to enter into operation in 2025.

Also, the company has signed a number of agreements with local players in connection with other identified projects with a total capacity exceeding 800 MW, it announced this week.

Naturgy’s new office is located in Rome and is headed by the company’s country manager for Italy, Filipo Checcucci.

The Spanish utility’s goal is to increase the renewables share of its portfolio to almost 60% in the coming years and to eventually become carbon neutral by 2050.
