Spain’s Solaria to go land hunting for Repsol’s renewables
Sep 18, 2024 14:35 CESTSpanish power and gas utility Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY) has secured consent and a construction permit to set up an 18-MW wind farm in the region of Galicia, northwestern Spain, according to the region’s official gazette.
The wind project is called Patineiro and is accompanied by an investment of EUR 17.8 million (USD 19.7m), the Galicia regional government said in a resolution published in the gazette on Friday.
Naturgy has the licence to install three units of 6-MW wind turbines with a hub height of 125 metres and a 150-metre rotor diameter. The installation site is located in the municipality of Vimianzo.
Once in operation, the Patineiro wind farm will be capable of generating around 60,530 MWh of electricity annually.
Naturgy submitted the project into permitting in September 2019, then seeking approval to install 25 MW at the Patineiro site. At the time, the utility had five 5-MW turbines in mind.
During the environmental evaluation, Naturgy decided to modify the original plan in response to the reports issued by Galicia’s Directorate-General for Natural Heritage. The company eliminated two turbines from the design and went for a different turbine model, raising the unit capacity of the remaining machines to 6 MW while maintaining their positions and dimensions unchanged.
