Norwegian hydrogen solutions company Nel ASA (OSE:NEL) has inked a EUR-5-million (USD 5.43m) deal to supply 10 MW of alkaline electrolyser equipment for construction and engineering company Samsung C&T Corp (KRX:028260).

The system, which will be delivered by Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser AS, will be used for the South Korean firm’s first off-grid green hydrogen production project to be deployed in the Asian country, according to a statement released today.

The order is for alkaline stacks as well as balance-of-stacks (BoS). The electrodes will be produced at Nel’s electrolyser factory in Heroya.

Samsung C&T has already signed several green hydrogen agreements and continues to strengthen its energy transition business portfolio. Last year, for instance, the company agreed to join Infinite Green Energy (IGE) in a project to produce up to 300 tonnes of green hydrogen daily in Western Australia.

“We are delighted to be able to build a partnership with Nel. Samsung C&T hope that the two companies will be able to maintain close relations and continue cooperating in various overseas green hydrogen production projects,” said Byung Soo Lee, head of the energy solution business unit at Samsung C&T.
