Vistra agrees USD 3.25bn buyout of zero-carbon energy unit
Sep 19, 2024 11:01 CESTUS Nelnet Renewable Energy has decided to shift its solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) operations to the commercial market due to the challenging regulatory and economic conditions within the residential solar sector.
The Lincoln, Nebraska-based firm will cease its residential solar operations and will concentrate its efforts solely on the construction and development of commercial solar projects, with a specific focus on the Midwest and New York, according to a statement published Friday.
Nelnet Renewable Energy currently has around 15 projects under construction with an average size of 4 MW.
Nelnet Renewable Energy is a unit of diversified financial services and technology firm Nelnet (NYSE:NNI). The company specialises in financing, developing, deploying and operating clean energy solutions. In August, it completed the integration of EPC contractor GRNE Solar following the acquisition in 2022.
"Nelnet is committed to being an industry leading commercial solar EPC contractor and consultant with resources, knowledge, and people to deliver high quality projects and solutions for our customers," said Nelnet’s CFO Jim Kruger.
