Sep 12, 2024 9:29 CESTBrazilian utility company Neoenergia SA (BVMF:NEOE3) has signed an agreement with the government of Ceara state to study the development of offshore wind power projects.
Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), the parties will conduct studies regarding offshore wind generation in the state's coastal region.
No further details about the agreement were disclosed in a statement published by Neoenergia.
Marcelo Lopes, Director of Hydraulics and Offshore at Neoenergia, noted that Brazil needs a regulatory framework to support offshore wind energy deployment by providing legal and regulatory certainty, thus creating predictability for future investors.
Neoenergia currently has four other MoUs for offshore wind power feasibility studies in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte and Rio Grande do Sul.
