Neoenergia to build 10 solar arrays for Brazil's Armed Forces Brazil's Ministry of Defence pilot solar rooftop system

Brazilian utility company Neoenergia SA (BVMF:NEOE3) has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defense to deploy over 2.1 MWp of solar farms for the Armed Forces.

Under the agreement, Neoenergia will invest BRL 8.8 million (USD 1.6m/EUR 1.4m) in the construction of ten solar parks as well as the replacement of 3,600 inefficient lamps with LED models in Army, Navy and Aeronautical buildings, located in the Federal District, in Bahia, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte and Sao Paulo.

The whole operation should be completed by the end of the year. It is estimated to result in an annual reduction of these institutions' energy bills of BRL 2.1 million.

The utility has had collaborations on energy efficiency with the Armed Forces for more than ten years now, it noted.
