Nepalese, Bangladeshi investors seek Turkish partners for green energy projects - report

(ADPnews) - May 16, 2011 - Nepalese and Bangladeshi investors have expressed interest in developing renewable energy projects jointly with Turkish partners, Turkish news site Haberalemi.net reported last week.

The Confederation of Turkish Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSCON) organized a Trade Fair and Business Forum within the framework of the fourth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries held in Istanbul on May 9-13. The forum brought together businessmen from 48 of the most developed and less developed countries and Turkish businessmen to evaluate mutual business opportunities in different sectors, the website said.

Bangladeshi Development Design Consultants Ltd's general manager Akm Rafiquddin said his company was interested in biogas, solar and wind power and planned to establish a waste-to-energy plant and hatchery facility in collaboration with Turkish investors. He said that the company had deployed bioenergy demonstration plants in hospitals, schools and workplaces in Bangladesh.

Akhil Chapagain, general manager of Nepal Akhil Trading Cancer Ltd, said his company seeks a Turkish partner for a USD-100-million (EUR 70.4m) hydropower project in Nepal. The company is also interested in hotel and hospital projects, the website added.
