New Hampshire hotel to go solar

Sep 17, 2012 - A historic hotel located on an island near New Hampshire plans to have a solar array built on its land, the Associated Press reported on Sunday.

Star Island Family Retreat and Conference Center's facilities manager Jack Farrell told the AP construction of the solar power system is expected to start in spring 2013.

Vicky Hardy, the chief executive of non-profit organisation Star Island Corp, which owns the resort, said six firms had approached the company with bids to build its solar power facility and sign a power-purchase agreement.

The hotel and conference centre already has solar modules installed on some cottage roofs that are used for water heating.
