German photovoltaics specialist IBC Solar AG has launched a digital platform to give residents an opportunity to invest in solar projects.

The platform, developed in cooperation with EUECO, will provide information about projects and their terms and will enable interested residents to support initiatives even with small investments, IBC Solar said on Thursday.

The first project that is seeking public participation through the platform is the 6.5-MWp Schnaid solar scheme which will have an estimated annual output of about 7,000 MWh. The plant will be built in the municipality of Hallerndorf, Bavaria with construction works planned to begin next summer.

Apart from Schnaid, two more solar parks that will be financially supported by the public are being planned.

Commenting on the launch of the platform, IBC Solar's chief executive Udo Moehrstedt said: "By offering the opportunity to participate in a financially interesting solar product, we have a chance to increase the acceptance of solar projects among the population."
