French cable manufacturer Nexans SA (EPA:NEX) has secured an unconditional nod from the European Commission (EC) for its agreed acquisition of La Triveneta Cavi, an Italian industrial cable maker offering solutions for building, infrastructure, fire-retardant cable systems and renewable applications.

The EU merger regulator has ruled that the proposed tie-up would not raise concerns, given its limited impact on competition in the markets where the companies operate, a statement said on Tuesday.

Set up in 1965, La Triveneta Cavi specialises in the medium- and low-voltage segments.

Paris-based Nexans sealed the deal in February in a drive to strengthen its product portfolio. Financial details were not provided.
