Vistra agrees USD 3.25bn buyout of zero-carbon energy unit
Sep 19, 2024 11:01 CESTFrench cables manufacturer Nexans SA (EPA:NEX) has signed a framework agreement with Denmark’s Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED) and New England utility Eversource Energy (NYSE:ES) to take part in the offshore wind farm development in North America until 2027.
The deal will bring Nexans the opportunity to supply up to 1,000 kilometres of subsea high-voltage export cables for Ørsted’s offshore wind project in the US, the French company said Tuesday.
Nexans expects to make the first delivery by 2022.
The French company said it is investing in its first manufacturing facility in the US to be able to make subsea high-voltage cables locally. It is also building a new cable-laying vessel, Nexans Aurora, with a 10,000-tonne capacity to handle the expected workload.
