Nextracker wins 1.17-GW order for Saudi Al Kahfah solar project Nextracker NX Horizon

US solar tracker maker Nextracker Inc (NASDAQ:NXT) announced today that it has been contracted to equip a 1.17-GW installation at the Al Kahfah Solar Power Plant project in Saudi Arabia developed by local power and water company ACWA Power Co (TADAWUL:2082).

The order was assigned by ACWA Power and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor Larsen and Toubro Ltd (NSE:LT), or L&T. It concerns Nextracker’s all-terrain NX Horizon-XTR smart solar tracker systems and marks the company’s largest deployment of this series in a single order to date, according to a press release.

The 1.581-GWp Al Kahfah is one of three major solar PV Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects being led by ACWA Power and the Water and Electricity Holding Company (Badeel), a wholly-owned company of the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Nextracker is joining peer Arctech Solar Holding Co Ltd which in December secured a 1.7-GW order from L&T, including the supply of 408 MW of trackers for the Al Kahfah site.

As part of the deal with ACWA Power, the US firm has extended its domestic content and capacity development programme in the Kingdom, engaging a range of local partners to provide raw material and manufacturing support for its trackers at plants across the region.
