Japanese ceramics company NGK Insulators Ltd (TYO:5333) announced on Friday that it has received order to supply its NAS batteries with an output of 750 kWdc for a grid storage battery demonstration project in Hungary.

The order was placed by MVM Balance Zrt, a subsidiary of Hungarian state-owned energy company MVM Group.

NGK said that it will deliver three container-type NAS batteries with a total capacity of 4,350 kWh. The units will be installed inside MVM Balance’s power station and used in a project aimed verifying the effectiveness of grid storage batteries for balancing electricity supply and demand. The project will also examine the provision of adjustment capacity to the ancillary service market.

NAS Batteries were chosen for their large capacity, long discharge duration, reliability, and safety features, NGK said. This is the company's third order for NAS batteries in Hungary.

The batteries are expected to go online in May 2025.
