NHOA SA (EPA:NHOA), formerly Engie EPS, said today its energy storage unit, NHOA Energy, has commissioned a 311-MWh battery, Taiwan’s largest, for its parent company, Taiwan Cement Group (TCC Group).

The energy storage system is located at the HePing plant in Taiwan’s Hualien County.

“This over 300 MWh energy storage project in HePing is more than an operational enhancement – it's a bold statement of our dedication to renewable energy and a testament to our role in Taiwan's ambitious journey towards carbon neutrality by 2050,” said TCC Group chairman Nelson Chang.

The project marks the third energy storage system completed by NHOA Energy this year in the Asia-Pacific region after a 200-MWh facility in Kwinana, Western Australia, and a 107-MWh installation in YingDe, mainland China. Another two projects are under execution in Southern Australia and Taiwan.

“The commissioning of the HePing system represents a major step, a further statement of our commitment to the Asia-Pacific sustainable energy market: NHOA Energy has over 1.2 GWh of capacity online and under construction in the region,” said NHOA Energy chief executive Giuseppe Artizzu.
