A solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant with a capacity of between 30 MWp and 60 MWp is to be built at the Gorou Banda site in Niger, Agence Ecofin reports.

The Council of Ministers of Niger last Wednesday declared the particular site of public utility, thus enabling the project to soon enter the construction phase, the information agency said. The plant will be built in Niamey, the country's capital and largest city.

In addition, the council has paved the way for the construction of certain power transmission lines.
