German skincare company Beiersdorf AG (ETR:BEI) announced this week its facilities worldwide will consume 100% renewable power by the end of 2019 thanks to electricity purchases.

The company behind the Nivea brand said that reaching the 100% renewable power target was an important milestone on the road to 2025 when it intends to achieve a 70% energy-related emissions reduction per manufactured product compared to the base year 2014.

Beiersdorf said it had already cut 59% of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by the end of 2018.

The company is a signatory of the Business Ambition for 1.5°C pledge and plans to make further target adjustments to contribute to limiting global warming. Next year, it will seek to have new targets acknowledged by the Science Based Targets initiative.
