Danish power cable manufacturer NKT A/S (CPH:NKT) announced on Monday that it has been awarded an order for the first major offshore wind park to be built in Polish waters, the up to 1.2-GW Baltic Power project.

NKT will design and produce offshore export power cables, including accessories. The Danish firm will supply a 230-kV high-voltage AC XLPE system in four circuits of around 32 kilometres (19.9 miles) comprising a total length of about 130 kilometres.

The value of the contract exceeds EUR 120 million (USD 131.0m). The power cable project for Baltic Power will be executed in a consortium with two partners.

Baltic Power is a project of Poland's PKN Orlen (WSE:PKN) and Canada’s Northland Power. Orlen made a conditional investment decision for the project earlier this month. The site is expected to become fully operational by 2026.
