The turbines of German wind turbine maker Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) have emerged as the cheapest to maintain in the US, according to a ranking by IntelStor.

According to the market research and consulting firm, Nordex has the lowest average maintenance cost per MWh of production of USD 5.58 (EUR 5.19) in the US onshore wind energy market. The market’s weighted average is USD 6.38 per MWh for all operational wind power assets, IntelStor, a company set up by renewables veteran Philip Totaro, says in a recent Linkedin post.

IntelStor notes that the figures are influenced by asset age and degradation, but indicate how friendly a wind turbine product portfolio is to service. Its rankings are in the table below:

1 Nordex Group USD 5.58/MWh
2 Other (includes VENSYS Energy AG and legacy OEMs such as Clipper Windpower, etc.) USD 5.90/MWh
3 Siemens Gamesa USD 5.92/MWh
4 Senvion USD 6.04/MWh
5 GE Renewable Energy USD 6.10/MWh
6 Vestas USD 6.20/MWh
7 Suzlon Group USD 6.58/MWh
8 SANY Group USD 8.23/MWh

(USD 1 = EUR 0.931)
