Vistra agrees USD 3.25bn buyout of zero-carbon energy unit
Sep 19, 2024 11:01 CESTGerman wind turbine manufacturer Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) today announced the appointment of a new chief executive of its North American operations to spearhead the expansion of the company’s business in the US.
Having recently announced it is working on the launch of a turbine tailored to the American market, Nordex plans to unveil a turbine variant with an optimised capacity factor for US project conditions, designed to significantly increase yield in pure grid constrained projects as early as the middle of 2024.
Another key aspect of Nordex’s growth strategy in the US is expanding local supply chains to guarantee that US customers continue to benefit from local manufacturing credit. This will enable the company to take advantage of the market growth expected in the coming years, it said.
Nordex has tasked Manav Sharma to lead its business in North America, starting on June 1, 2024. Sharma currently serves as Nordex’s Chief Transformation Officer and previously was its Chief Operations Officer (COO).
Nordex’s current head of the North American region, John McComas, will take up the newly created role of COO North America.
“Having strengthened our market position in Europe, we will now add focus on our efforts in the North American arm of our business,” said Nordex chief executive Jose Luis Blanco.
“With [Sharma] and his team leading the launch of our US-turbine and accelerating the on-going supply chain transformation, we will be well-positioned to benefit from expected growth in both the US and Canadian markets,” the CEO added.
In 2023, Europe accounted for 86% of Nordex’s total order volume, while North America, including Canada, made up 4%.
