German wind turbine maker Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) ended the first quarter of 2024 with an order intake of 2,086 MW, doubling its result from a year earlier amid stable prices and high demand.

The Rostock-based company secured deals to supply 338 of its machines in the first trimester of the year, according to a press release on Tuesday. The total capacity of the ordered turbines compares with 1,021 MW registered from contracts placed in the same period a year back.

The average sales price per megawatt of capacity (ASP) in January-March stood at EUR 850,000 (USD 919,381) per MW, against EUR 900,000/MW in the previous year.

The orders awarded to the German manufacturer concerned projects in 11 countries, with Germany, South Africa and Lithuania being the top three biggest individual markets. Among them is a deal for a 336-MW cluster in South Africa's Eastern Cape province and Achema's purchase of hardware for its 264-MW Pagegiai wind project in Lithuania.

“I am very pleased that we have won several major orders in different regions, as this shows that our turbines are in demand both within Europe and beyond,” said Jose Luis Blanco, CEO of the Nordex Group, adding that the achieved order intake is “a good start to the new year.”
