Nordic IT infrastructure supplier Atea has entered into a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Better Energy that will allow it to offtake one-third of its energy consumption in Denmark.

Through this contract, the Oslo-based firm is supporting the construction of a new solar park on market terms, without any subsidies. It is expected to be hooked to the grid later in 2023 and upon completion will be feeding about 70 GWh of electricity annually.

“By partnering with Better Energy, we will help contribute to creating more green electricity, rather than just purchasing the energy that already exists on the grid,” said Andreas Schjolin, Sustainability Manager at Atea.

This partnership aligns with Atea’s ambition of becoming carbon-neutral by 2030, it said.
