Better Energy to delay 3 GW of Danish PV projects amid negative prices
Sep 19, 2024 11:14 CESTNordic Solar A/S announced today the start of construction works on its first battery energy storage system (BESS), a 10-MWh project in Denmark, as part of its strategy to integrate storage capacity into its solar portfolio.
The Danish solar company is building its first BESS site in Borup in the Municipality of Hillerod on Zealand, a press statement says.
Nordic Solar has pledged to pursue more such projects in the future and already has a development pipeline of 25 additional storage projects with a targeted capacity of nearly 1 GWh.
The project is the result of collaboration with Hillerod Municipality and Hybrid Greentech. The latter is also engaged in the site’s construction and will be in charge of its operation.
"We expect the market for battery storage to grow rapidly in the coming years, and entering the BESS market opens up a number of new opportunities for increasing value creation of our European solar energy projects on various levels,” said CEO Nikolaj Holtet Hoff.
