European Energy, Centrica ink balancing deals for Lithuanian renewables
Sep 13, 2024 14:50 CESTDanish solar company Nordic Solar A/S today reported progress on its 100-MWp solar project in eastern Lithuania, announcing that construction works are advancing and the site is expected to be operational in the first half of 2024.
The facility is being built in Moletai, about 60 km from the capital city of Vilnius. It will house more than 150,000 solar panels mounted on Nordic Solar's proprietary steel structures designed to increase energy production from the back of the collectors.
The Moletai facility, described by Nordic Solar as the largest solar park in Lithuania to date, is expected to produce enough electricity to power about 28,000 homes when fully commissioned.
Since the start of the year, Nordic Solar has launched construction works on two solar parks in Lithuania with a total expected capacity of 180 MWp. The company is ready to start building another 60-MWp site before the end of 2023.
The Danish firm currently has solar parks with a combined capacity of around 390 MWp across nine European countries. The company has a portfolio of planned development projects of nearly 1.6 GW.
