NovaWind plugs in 60-MW wind farm in Russia

Russian developer NovaWind JSC has recently commissioned its 60-MW Medvezhenskaya wind farm in Stavropol Krai, a region in southern Russia.

The wind farm started supplying power to the wholesale electricity and capacity market on December 1, the firm said.

Medvezhenskaya is the sixth completed wind farm project for NovaWind, the wind power division of Russian nuclear energy corporation Rosatom. The company said it used 24 turbines and finalised construction in less than 12 months.

In two years time, NovaWind commissioned 720 MW of wind power capacity in the south of Russia, said CEO Alexandr Korchagin. Its largest wind farm in the portfolio, the 210-MW Kochubeyevskaya, reached commercial operation date (COD) early this year.

Rosatom has a target to put 1.7 GW of wind power into operation by 2027, NovaWind added.
