National Storage Affiliates Trust (NYSE:NSA) has agreed to host at least 100 MW of rooftop solar installations on its self-storage facilities across the US and Puerto Rico to be deployed by domestic rooftop solar developer Solar Landscape.

Under the agreement, Solar Landscape will develop, own and operate the projects and make a monthly lease payment to NSA. It has been granted exclusive rights to evaluate about 1,000 of NSA’s properties in 42 states and Puerto Rico, a press statement said on Monday.

The partnership is expected to cover about 8.5 million square feet (789,675 sq m) of rooftop space. The output of the installations will power nearby homes and businesses at a discount through a community solar model.
