Coca-Cola Europacific seals virtual solar PPA with Engie Australia
Sep 19, 2024 5:33 CESTThe University of Technology Sydney (UTS) has signed a long-term deal to buy power generated by a new 32-MW solar farm that will be built in regional New South Wales by local firm Epuron.
More specifically, UTS has agreed to purchase from the AUD-40-million (USD 28.9m/EUR 25.6m) Walgett solar farm the equivalent of half the university’s annual electricity demand. The project is being developed in stages by Epuron and its construction is seen to start soon.
“With the UTS commitment to purchase our clean energy output, the Walgett Solar Farm can move ahead and we look forward to commencing construction in the coming months,” stated Epuron director Martin Poole.
First power is expected to be generated in mid-2019. In a whole year, the solar farm is estimated to produce about 63,000 MWh of electricity, which is enough to power 9,600 local homes.
