Ocean Winds (OW) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Brazil's Rio Grande do Norte State Federal University (UFRN) as part of a plan to exchange knowledge in relation to offshore wind energy.

The joint venture between EDP Renewables (ELI:EDPR) and Engie SA (EPA:ENGI) said on Friday that it intends to share the experience it has gathered from developing projects representing a total of 18.5 GW, including 1.5 GW in operation and 2 GW under construction.

The partnership will seek to address the specific skills needed in the industry.

The announcement comes a few days after the company teamed up with Brazilian power distributor Eletrobras, to jointly develop offshore wind in the country.

Ocean Winds says it has 15 GW registered with the domestic environmental regulator IBAMA across five projects in the states of Piaui, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul.
