Oman has extended the deadline for submitting proposals for large-scale projects for green hydrogen production by one month to March 15.

The call is part of the first green hydrogen tender in the Sultanate. Bidders are expected to come up with proposals for integrated projects for green hydrogen production in the Duqm area, central Oman, including wind and solar generation at a competitive cost.

A request for proposals (RfP) was issued by Hydrom, the state-run company established to support the development of green hydrogen in the country, in December 2022. In the Phase A Round 1 auction, Hydrom is offering two blocks with an area of 320 sq km (123.6 sq mi) each in Duqm.

The tender supports Oman's green hydrogen strategy under which the country aims to produce between 7.5 million and 8.5 million tonnes of green hydrogen per year by 2050. A second round of the auction will be launched in 2023 with the request for qualification (RfQ) to be released in June.
