Infener to set up 20-MW green hydrogen hub in Germany
Sep 17, 2024 14:59 CESTShell Development Oman LLC (Oman Shell) will provide up to 15 hydrogen cars to state-owned operator Oman Airports as part of a partnership that involves also the construction of green hydrogen plants.
Oman Airports, the operator of the four civil airports in the sultanate, will use the hydrogen cars for corporate purposes. The units for the production of green hydrogen will be powered by solar photovoltaic (PV) energy and will be built at places where they will be visible to the public.
A Memorandum of Understanding for the project has been signed on Sunday during the Oman Sustainability Week, Oman Shell has said in a statement.
“The recent royal directives by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to grow the green hydrogen sector in the Sultanate inspire our efforts. We look forward to taking the first tangible step in kickstarting this industry and we hope that this project will be a pacesetter in renewables-based hydrogen,” said Oman Shell's country chairman Walid Hadi.
The partnership is the latest initiative in the area of renewable energy launched by Oman Shell in the country. In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the oil and gas major kicked off a project that sought to provide solar PV systems to a total of 22 public schools across Oman and commissioned a 25-MW solar park last year that supplies a large ferrochrome production facility at the port and free zone in Sohar.
