Oman has selected nine prequalified applicants for the development of the 500-MW Ibri III solar power project with an estimated investment of OMR 155 million (USD 402m/EUR 377m).

Nama Power and Water Procurement (PWP), the sole offtaker of electricity from independent power plants in Oman, on Wednesday announced the list of bidders who have successfully passed the request for qualification (RFQ) round which was launched in January.

Prequalified applicants include UAE's Masdar, Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power, Jinko Power, Sembcorp Utilities, TotalEnergies Renewables, Sumitomo Corp., International Power SA (Engie), and two consortia -- Al Riyadh National Trading together with Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO) as well as EDF Renewables in partnership with Korean Western Power (KOWEPO).

Nama PWP has received a total of 12 submissions for qualification from both local and international consortia.

The solar park will be built in Al Dhahirah Governorate adjoining the Ibri II, Oman's first 500-MW solar project. Ibri III is slated for commissioning in the last quarter of 2026.
