Romanian oil and gas group OMV Petrom (BSE:SNP) has tasked a consortium of domestic companies with the construction of an 89-MWp solar park in southwestern Romania, on the border with Bulgaria.

The project will create OMV Petrom’s first large-scale photovoltaic (PV) site, the company said on Monday. According to its bourse filing, it has signed an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract for the scheme with Romania-based Actual Connect, Global Technical Systems, Bit Invest, and Alpin Sun, which were selected following a competitive process. The scope of the award covers the construction of the PV farm and a 110-kV substation, as well as the operation and maintenance of the facilities for two years.

The solar park will be located in the commune of Isalnita, Dolj county, and is expected to have an annual output of roughly 130 GWh. The plant’s commissioning is scheduled for the first half of 2026.

OMV Petrom took a final investment decision for the project in June, in line with its goal of growing its renewables portfolio to 2.5 GW, together with partners. Provided that it receives funding under Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the company will couple the Isalnita PV park with a 18-MW/36-MWh battery.
