TRENDE Inc, a provider of renewable energy solutions to residential customers in Japan, has agreed to acquire the renewable energy operations of US industrial power company One Energy Corporation, consisting of its battery storage rental, solar leasing and rooftop solar generation businesses.

The business to be acquired will complement the battery storage and solar power system leasing business, dubbed Teraris, which TRENDE is currently developing, the acquirer said in a recent press statement.

“The company anticipates synergies in providing similar services to ONE Energy's customers, leading to the decision to acquire the business. TRENDE plans to introduce ONE Energy’s customers to the Teraris solar power system leasing, as well as the home battery storage system series Smart Star,” the Japanese firm noted.

The financial details of the transaction, which is set to close on October 1, were not disclosed.

TRENDE, which counts among its backers companies like Itochu and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, also plans to create a decentralised energy marketplace. It intends to introduce peer-to-peer (P2P) electricity trading technology in the future to allow customers to buy and sell excess solar energy directly with each other.
