Oracle Power PLC (LON:ORCP) said today it has launched an environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) for the deployment of 1.3 GW of solar and wind parks, coupled with energy storage, for a green hydrogen project in southern Pakistan.

The ESIA is for a project in Jhimpir village in the Sindh Province that envisages the deployment of 800 MW of solar and 500 MW of wind power generating capacity, along with a 450-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The study has been assigned to local inspection and certification company SGS Pakistan.

In late 2022, Oracle signed a land lease agreement for a terrain of 7,000 acres (2,833 ha) with the government of Sindh for a complex housing a renewable energy park and a green hydrogen production plant.

In July 2023, the British firm said it was ready to start the site design and project planning for the green hydrogen facility after completing the topography survey.
