French renewable energy company GreenYellow on Tuesday said it has inked a deal with Orange Polska SA (WSE:OPL) to install solar arrays atop the telecoms group’s data centre in Warsaw, Poland.

The contract calls for GreenYellow to equip Orange Polska’s Warsaw Data Hub with 299 kWp of photovoltaic (PV) systems, expected to generate 250 MWh of green power annually.

Under the 20-year deal, the French firm will take care of the project’s financing and construction, as well as the subsequent maintenance and operation of the solar plant. The arrangement enabled by GreenYellow’s photovoltaic-as-a-Service (PVaaS) mechanism will provide Orange Polska with 5,000 MWh of green electricity for self-consumption during the term of the contract, helping it offset 3,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

GreenYellow noted that the contract was tailored to meet Orange Polska's individual needs.

Last October, Orange Polska tapped local renewables developer and independent power producer (IPP) R.Power S.A. to procure over 600 GWh of electricity from its solar parks between 2024 and 2034.
